Companions.
Our donkeys are the most important animals on our farm. While they do not give us eggs or meat, what they do give us is priceless. They give us their trust, devotion, and companionship.
Our miniature donkeys are not field livestock, but are handled each and every day - rain or shine.
Our goal is to have person-friendly, easy to care for, and well-mannered donkeys that will give our visitors the best possible impression of and experience with these amazing creatures.

We are currently training our jack, Loreto, to carry a pack. He may be little, but he is more than willing to carry a few of our supplies when we are hiking in the woods or working in the garden. The training and the work are great for keeping him in good physical condition - as well keeping his mind occupied with a little problem solving. Most of all - any time spent with a donkey is time well spent.

Often woefully misunderstood, donkeys are characterized as stubborn, slow, and lazy animals in popular culture. In reality they are cautious, intelligent, curious, and playful. So where did the world-at-large get the idea of the stubborn donkey?
Simple: It is next to impossible to get a donkey to do anything if he does not trust you.
Earning the trust of a donkey is no small task. Donkeys live a very long time and have a very long memory. A little time spent with one of these creatures will reveal things about yourself that you had probably not been aware of - vices, inconsistencies, fears, anxieties - but would greatly improve your life if only you were to face and conquer them.
With a little more time with a donkey you understand that there is no point in pretending to be patient, wanting to be kind, hiding your anxiety, or smiling through a bad mood. The donkey always knows. Even when you yourself may not. He is not judging or condemning you for these things. He just needs you to be honest.
To earn the trust of a donkey, you are going to have to become a better person. And you will have to take all the time that is necessary to do so.
Because something so important can not be rushed -- and neither can a donkey.
