Sassafras was one of my first geese. She was one of those goslings I could identify when she was young. It was also guessed that she was a female. She grew up to have a nice trait - a dark stripe. She was the second to last to lay last year and the following year she began laying in December. Unfortunately, a fox would get her on January 11. But because she had been laying previous to this I could hatch a few goslings from her.
We had a person request a special hatch of goslings and these were from Sassafras. Because of this hatch, we had a backup hatch. Sassafras had also laid another egg which I set. All the eggs sucessfully hatched. Two are females and one is a male. The two females are Cinnamon and Olive. The male is Cedar. Cedar and Cinnamon look a lot like one another except for one thing - Cedar has a dewlap. I do not intend to sell Cedar although he has a dewlap. His coloring is very nice due to the dark stripe and eye color. Cinnamon is currently an incredibly friendly goose and she is pretty. Olive has a lighter gray head and eyes that contrast greatly making her one of the most unique looking geese I have.

Her other goslings are: Patmos, Adrastos, Liz, and Ariel. Patmos is a gander that looks very much like Butternut but has a bigger knob. Adrastos may not be Sassafras's but I assumed he was because of his darker stripe. Liz also has a darker stripe than other geese but I cannot be certain that Sassafras is her mother. Ariel was a big goose with a rounded head, I think this was from the goose I believe to be his father. He inherited the darker stripe and looked similar to a gander I used to have named Oak. Cedar also looks very much like Oak.

    my name is Emily

I have twenty-eight geese. I hatch a bunch of goslings because I want a lot of people to have geese. I do not see them everywhere but I want to! The goslings are the sweetest baby birds I know! The adult males are proud and can be cranky but have their sweet moments while the females are shy and sweet all at the same time.
