If you know a little French, you were probably wondering about our farm name. Even if you don't know any French at all - our logo may have had you wondering. The long and short of it is: we like black cats. And we have several (including a handful of honorary black cats).
Before we moved from our suburban home we had all agreed that if we ever had the room for it, we would rescue as many black cats as possible. Some of the motivation stemmed from my childhood memories of a favorite cat who happened to be black. The rest was inspired by a feral black kitten we adopted from a box in a suburban Lowe's garden center. Having a black cat, we ran across people who were terrified of him, we were warned by friends and neighbors to keep him locked away safely during the Halloween season... We had no idea so much superstition still surrounded these kitties. We have made good on our pledge and have rescued many black cats over the last few years. Some we cuddled and rehomed after having them spayed or neutered. Others we made at home here.

octavius |
The quintessential sofa cat, he loves his spot on the throw pillows or taunting the dog from the back of the couch. He weighs in at over twenty pounds and looks even bigger than that because of his huge polydactyl paws. Octavius came to us by birth (along with a brother and a sister) when we adopted his pregnant mother.

atticus |
Brother of Octavius - the smaller of the two, but still huge by his own right. He's proud and pretty typically cat-like and spends much of his day asking to be let in and let out and let in and let out... Much to our surprise, he taught himself to use the master bedroom toilet rather than a litterbox.

persephone |
She was rescued from an alley behind the movie theater in Pryor, Oklahoma as a kitten. She grew up in the house with semi-feral Cicero although they eventually parted ways. She is not the most cuddly of cats and hates being indoors. She is a pretty good mouser and spends most of her time sleeping on high shelves in our garage.

calypso |
We first saw her when we were picking up some rabbits at a farm near Claremore, Oklahoma. The farmer noticed us petting her and mentioned that she was pregnant and he was planning on getting rid of her before she had any kittens... And so we brought her home. All of her kittens were eventually rehomed. She's now a close companion of Persephone.
